Negeri Sembilan ruler calls for stronger action on living costs, youth issues

Tuanku Muhriz urges enhanced measures on cost of living, healthcare, and education to tackle social problems and nurture a united future generation.

KUALA PILAH: The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has called for strengthened efforts to address the cost of living to ensure no one in the state is left behind.

His Royal Highness said progress in reducing extreme poverty must be sustained through targeted aid, effective price controls, strengthened food security, and expanded income opportunities.

“I call upon the people to practise prudent spending, enhance their knowledge and skills, and support state government initiatives,” said Tuanku Muhriz at an investiture ceremony for his 78th birthday at Istana Besar Seri Menanti.

He stated the government must intensify healthcare provision and service quality as a key thrust to improve lives.

The Ruler expressed hope for due consideration of the proposed Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Hospital in Nilai to strengthen state healthcare services.

He also supported upgrading Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban to enhance health sector capacity and quality.

On education, Tuanku Muhriz noted the state’s encouraging performance trend and said it should be strengthened alongside character-building efforts.

“I am deeply concerned about the increasingly worrying social problems affecting the younger generation today, including drug abuse, gang activity and various negative behaviours which could jeopardise their future.”

He affirmed education as the vital foundation for shaping children’s character and identity.

Tuanku Muhriz supported the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council’s continuous implementation of the Aulad Sejahtera Module at preschool level, emphasising noble values.

He added that secondary students should be encouraged to join school associations and clubs to build identity and leadership skills.

The Ruler emphasised participation in uniformed bodies and community clubs instils discipline, social responsibility, and a culture of volunteerism.

In his address, Tuanku Muhriz again stressed the importance of unity, reflecting the people’s willingness to understand and cooperate despite differences.

“I am confident that a comprehensive and continuous education approach, grounded in the implementation of the Aulad Sejahtera Module as the foundation for values formation, will produce a future generation imbued with a strong sense of unity.”

He said this call applies to all levels of society, in rural or urban areas, and across all races and religions.

Tuanku Muhriz stressed collective efforts are needed to educate and guide the younger generation as future leaders for a more prosperous state and nation.
