State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) head Supt Shuhaimi Jusoh said the offences were detected following roadblocks, mounted with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), at 17 locations, from 10 last night until 3 am today.

He said that a total of 2,138 vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, lorries, multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) and four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, were inspected during the operations.

“Among the offences recorded are driving without a valid driver’s licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), not displaying a ‘P’ sticker, registration numbers not following specifications, exhaust modification and no vehicle insurance,” he said in a statement today.

He said in the operations, JPJ also issued 306 summonses involving various offences, including those who were driving without having competent driving licences (CDLs) and goods driving licences (GDLs) as well as side mirror offences.

He added that a total of 16 foreigners – one Indian man, Bangladesh (six men), Indonesia (two men), Pakistan (one man) and Myanmar (five men and one woman) – were also arrested during the inspection of five buses at roadblocks in Gua Musang.
