Pahang named Malaysia’s top nature and eco-tourism destination

A national survey finds Pahang is Malaysia’s leading nature-based tourism state, favoured for its serene escapes and sustainable practices.

KUANTAN: Pahang has been officially recognised as Malaysia’s premier destination for nature-based and eco-tourism.

Tourism Pahang stated a nationwide consumer survey showed travellers prefer the state for its serene nature escapes, diverse experiences, and commitment to sustainability.

The survey revealed 34.3% of respondents chose Pahang for a nature getaway, with 21.8% identifying Genting Highlands as the primary attraction.

Pahang also emerged as the state offering the “best mix of experiences,” supported by 28.1% of participants.

Furthermore, 30.5% of those surveyed recognised Pahang as the most eco-conscious state committed to sustainable tourism practices.

State Unity, Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Leong Yu Man said this recognition motivates further development as a premier eco-friendly destination.

“We are optimistic about reaching our target of 15 million local and international visitors in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026,” she said.

Leong emphasised collaboration among tourism partners, government agencies, and industry players to ensure Malaysia remains a welcoming and world-class destination.

Resorts World Genting executive vice-president Spencer Lee highlighted the company’s active role in promoting eco-tourism through educational experiences.

“Eufloria, an eco-tourism and edu-tourism attraction, is anchored by Malaysia’s largest greenhouse complex, offering nature-based learning through horticulture, artistry, and conservation-driven storytelling,” he said.
