Pahang targets RM1.28 billion revenue in 2026 state budget

Pahang’s 2026 budget targets RM1.28 billion revenue, with allocations for road maintenance, water supply, flood mitigation and student aid

KUANTAN: The Pahang government is targeting RM1.279 billion in revenue for 2026, an increase of about 7% from this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail tabled the themed budget, “Pahang 1st: Rakyat Didahulukan, Kemakmuran Dipertahankan”, at the State Legislative Assembly.

He said the budget allocates RM1.274 billion for operating expenses and RM446.26 million for state development expenditure.

A total of RM455 million has been allocated for maintenance works on state, municipal, agricultural and village roads next year.

RM134.34 million is allocated to the Pahang Public Works Department for its management and development budget.

To enhance water supply quality, RM64.54 million is allocated through Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP).

The funds aim to improve service efficiency, reduce non-revenue water losses and ensure a more stable supply.

The state also introduced the Pahang 1st Free Water Programme for the B40 group.

It provides the first 20 cubic metres of treated water free, with RM7.3 million allocated to benefit 38,000 consumers.

For flood mitigation, RM52.23 million is allocated to the State Irrigation and Drainage Department.

The funding is for projects to reduce flood risks, address coastal erosion and restore river estuaries.

The state will provide RM400 each to Pahang students in public and state-registered private higher education institutions.

An allocation of RM9 million is set aside for this student aid initiative.

Students pursuing studies abroad will receive RM1,000 each, involving an allocation of RM300,000.

The B40 group will continue to receive assistance, including RM200 each for farmers and fishermen.

Allocations of RM1.07 million and RM650,000 are set for farmers and fishermen respectively. – Bernama
