Pasar Patuh programme expands to all Kuala Lumpur public markets

KPDN expands Pasar Patuh compliance programme to all KL public markets to strengthen business integrity and consumer protection.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living will expand its Pasar Patuh compliance programme to all public markets in the federal capital next year.

Kuala Lumpur KPDN Director Mohd Sabri Seman said the initiative aims to strengthen business compliance culture and maintain a conducive trade ecosystem.

“This programme raises trader awareness about legal compliance while promoting healthy competition and protecting consumer interests,” he told reporters after launching the programme at Sungai Besi Public Market.

He explained that Sungai Besi Public Market was selected as the pilot site due to its deteriorating infrastructure and declining visitor numbers.

The Kuala Lumpur KPDN collaborated with strategic partners including City Hall, SSM and FAMA to repair the market and restore its appeal to local residents.

Mohd Sabri said the programme demonstrates cross-agency cooperation between government, industry and consumers for comprehensive implementation.

The initiative ensures every programme component is executed with high impact for maximum community benefit. – Bernama
