200 asnaf, B40 students in Perlis receive Raya aid

URWAH and Etiqa Takaful’s Shopping Riang Raya programme benefits 200 students with RM200 each for school and festive essentials

KANGAR: Two hundred students from asnaf and B40 families in Perlis have received essential aid ahead of the festive season.

The Shopping Riang Raya programme is a collaboration between Persatuan Amal Kebajikan Sahabat Urwah (URWAH) and Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad (EFTB).

URWAH chairman Mohamad Dhirar Azwar said the initiative targeted students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Guar Nangka and Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Empat.

Each of the 200 selected students received RM200 to purchase school uniforms and Hari Raya clothing.

“In total, the partnership with Etiqa Takaful contributed RM220,500,” Mohamad Dhirar told Bernama.

He expressed hope that the programme, held for the first time in Perlis, could become an annual event.

The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on underprivileged families during the school and festive periods.

A beneficiary, Azulia Abdul Ghani from Kampung Simpang Empat, expressed gratitude after her nine-year-old son received the aid.

Student Siti Ainin Sofiya Zul Helmi said she was thrilled to buy new Hari Raya clothes and school uniforms.

Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad also donated equipment to Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Empat as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Chief executive officer Zafri Ab Halim said the donation included drinking equipment, a washing machine, and a digital TV.

“The equipment is meant to help students, especially from B40 families, enjoy a more comfortable learning environment,” he said.

Zafri added that the company hopes the initiative will boost students’ learning and chances for future success.

The charity event concluded with an iftar gathering involving students and teachers.
