24 PDRM personnel dismissed for corruption from 2023 to October 2025, with government developing new anti-corruption monitoring system.
KUALA LUMPUR: 24 Royal Malaysia Police personnel have been dismissed for corruption between January 2023 and October this year.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah revealed the dismissals involved eight personnel in 2023, four in 2024, and twelve in 2025.
He said the action aligns with the government’s commitment to a zero-corruption policy.
“For 2025, 41 police officers received ‘Reject Corruption’ recognition certificates during PDRM Integrity Day on November 12,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.
“This shows that, despite public perceptions of corruption, many PDRM officers maintain high integrity, are disciplined, and deserve recognition.”
Shamsul Anuar was winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2026 for the Home Ministry.
The government is developing a system to detect, prevent, and monitor corruption risks across all departments and levels.
“A total of 43 corruption risks have been identified through Corruption Risk Management and Corruption Risk Assessment,” he said.
“Meanwhile, 170 additional control measures have been designated as action plans under the PDRM corruption prevention system.”
On border control, he said the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency now oversees 22 entry points.
Some 6,218 staff have been transferred from six agencies to consolidate border operations under single administration.
The transferred staff came from Immigration Department (4,414), Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (113), Road Transport Department (78), Perhilitan (19), Ministry of Health (424), and Customs Department (1,053).
Shamsul Anuar also addressed firearms use by RELA members for pest control operations.
He said no amendments to the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 or Arms Act 1960 were needed for such purposes.
Any request for RELA assistance must go through Perhilitan and PDRM while complying with both acts.
The Dewan Rakyat approved the Home Ministry’s estimated expenditure of RM21.18 billion for 2026 by majority voice vote. – Bernama
