Air Borneo is enhancing its operational systems and rural air services in Sarawak and Sabah, with plans for online check-in and senior citizen discounts.
KUCHING: Air Borneo is prioritising improvements to its operational systems and the smooth delivery of Rural Air Services (RAS) to ensure reliable air connectivity, particularly in Sarawak and Sabah.
Sarawak Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the airline is currently operating a total of 35 Passenger Service System (PSS) components. These comprise 24 main systems taken over from Malaysia Airlines and 11 in-house subsystems, all of which are functioning smoothly.
“While some processes are still being carried out manually, the systems are stable and will continue to be enhanced in phases to improve efficiency and service reliability,” he said during a visit to Kuching International Airport.
Lee said Air Borneo is also working to enhance passenger convenience, including plans to introduce online check-in facilities as part of ongoing system upgrades.
He highlighted that senior citizens aged 60 and above are entitled to a 50% discount under RAS services in Sarawak and Sabah. “Currently, check-in for senior passengers is conducted manually or they can call the call centre, with online options to be introduced in the future,” he said.
Lee added that Air Borneo will focus on stabilising existing services before expanding into regional operations. This expansion remains subject to regulatory approvals and compliance with aviation industry requirements.
