Border agency is finalising the intake of 200 former military personnel to enhance operational discipline and tactical capability at entry points.
PORT KLANG: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) is completing the intake procedure for 200 former military personnel.
Director-General Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the move aims to strengthen the agency’s role in empowering national border control.
“We are in the process of completing the recruitment procedures so that there will be no issue arising from the recruitment of these veterans,” he told a press conference at West Port.
He described the effort as strategic to ensure the intake is organised and free of future complications.
The process is being thoroughly implemented to meet all administrative, staffing, and guideline compliance aspects before the official intake.
Mohd Shuhaily said the veterans are expected to add value in terms of discipline, operational experience, and tactical capability.
“Filling the positions will help strengthen the operational capacity of AKPS,” he added.
He also revealed he has applied for additional positions specifically for the Port Klang AKPS.
The agency is concurrently focusing on enhancing its existing human resources to improve operational efficiency.
The intake follows an approval from the Public Service Department for 200 positions for former military personnel in AKPS.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced the approval during a recent parliamentary session.
