All 571 flood victims in Kemaman, Terengganu have returned home after the state fully recovers from recent flooding, with authorities urging continued vigilance
KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu has fully recovered from recent floods as all 571 victims from 155 families in Kemaman have been allowed to return home.
The Terengganu Civil Defence Force (APM) confirmed the last evacuees left the temporary relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Mentok at 6:00 pm today.
APM Director Colonel (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said the decision was made following improved weather conditions in the area.
He advised the public to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate again if their areas become inundated.
“During this Northeast Monsoon season, residents in flood-prone areas must stay alert to the warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department and be ready to move to a safer location,” he said when contacted. – Bernama
