Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrives in Istanbul for final programmes, including industry roundtable and meeting with footballer Mesut Ozil.
ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Istanbul today for the final leg of his three-day official visit to Turkey.
His special aircraft landed at Istanbul International Airport at 2.19 pm local time, accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and several ministers.
Anwar is scheduled to hold a roundtable meeting with Turkish captains of industry and receive a courtesy call from former international footballer Mesut Ozil.
He will later hold a press conference before departing for home, concluding the visit undertaken at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The visit aims to strengthen long-standing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkey.
Turkey was Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner among West Asian countries in 2024, with total trade valued at RM24.15 billion.
Malaysia’s trade with Turkey from January to November 2025 reached RM21.2 billion, reinforcing the republic’s role as an important economic partner.
