Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlights vital state-federal cooperation for public facilities, focusing on healthcare and education under MADANI framework
TAWAU: Close cooperation between state and federal governments is crucial for developing better public facilities, including hospital construction in Sabah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
He emphasised that elected representatives who genuinely care about people’s interests and understand community problems are essential for development continuity.
“Cooperation between the state government and the Federal government is extremely important,” Anwar stated during the Tawau Hospital new block launch ceremony.
He noted the MADANI government has prioritised completing previously delayed projects over the past three years.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the MADANI national development framework focuses on education and health as primary sectors.
“Many other countries focus on defence or other aspects, such as mega projects, high-rises, long bridges that are a source of pride, but in the MADANI government, we focus on the two most important areas: education and healthcare,” he said.
Anwar revealed he instructed the Health Ministry to add more facilities after learning Tawau Hospital had reached full capacity.
He also addressed the contract doctor issue inherited from the previous administration, affecting approximately 10,000 doctors.
“We have a plan and I am grateful that with the help of the Health Ministry and Public Service Department, we have resolved almost all of the problems related to contract doctors, as well as their allowances,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing civil servants’ workload and welfare.
This includes implementing salary revisions after 12 years without adjustments. – Bernama
