Boy, 13, dies after being found unconscious in bathroom

A 13-year-old boy was found unconscious in a locked bathroom at his home in Taman Merdeka and later pronounced dead at Melaka Hospital.

MELAKA: A teenage boy has died after being found unconscious in his family home.

The 13-year-old was discovered by his parents in a locked bathroom at their Taman Merdeka residence yesterday.

Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the boy had been left alone while his parents went out on an errand at 8.00 am.

Upon returning around 11.30 am, they called for him but received no response.

They then heard running water from the bathroom and found the door locked from the inside.

The boy’s 50-year-old father forced the door open and found his son unconscious on the floor.

He pulled the teenager out while his wife called for an ambulance, which arrived at noon.

The victim was rushed to Melaka Hospital where doctors performed CPR for half an hour.

They were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead.

ACP Patit said a preliminary police examination revealed no signs of foul play.

The cause of death remains under investigation.
