Teen given good behaviour bond for threatening classmate

A 13-year-old boy in Kuching was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond for threatening to stab and rape a female classmate.

KUCHING: A 13-year-old schoolboy was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond by the Magistrate’s Court here for threatening a female classmate.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan ordered the teenager to report to the Kuching Social Welfare Department every two months.

The boy was also ordered to attend interactive workshops under the Child Act 2001 throughout the bond period.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

The offence carries a punishment of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

According to the charge, the incident occurred at a school in Padawan on October 21.

The boy threatened to stab the victim 300 times and rape her, intending to cause fear.

The threats caused the victim to feel frightened, cry, and suffer trauma.

She became afraid to attend school, with several classmates witnessing the incident.

The victim later lodged a police report after she could no longer endure the behaviour.

Bail was set at RM500 without deposit, with a parent or guardian acting as surety.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan.

The accused was unrepresented in court.
