An Indonesian cement truck driver died after his vehicle overturned and pinned him at a Penang construction site near the hospital.
GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian cement truck driver was killed after his vehicle overturned at a construction site near Penang Hospital.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 11.29 am.
Assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said 13 personnel and three fire engines from the Jalan Perak station were dispatched to the scene.
He said the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
“The rescue operation was carried out using special equipment and a crane,” he said in a statement.
Firefighters managed to extricate the victim at 12.55 pm.
A Ministry of Health personnel at the site confirmed the driver had died.
The body has been handed over to the police for further action.
