A doctor in Pahang lost over RM880,000 in a fake share scheme promising high returns, with police investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code
KUANTAN: A doctor has lost more than RM880,000 after falling victim to a fraudulent share investment scheme advertised on Facebook.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the 44-year-old man was initially contacted via WhatsApp and added to a group called “Aura Wealth Navigation”.
The victim was later offered an investment scheme named “TNB Aura”, which promised returns of 18% to 22%.
It also offered profits of up to 500% if investment targets for 24 types of shares were achieved.
“Enticed by the offer, the victim made 21 money transfer transactions into five different bank accounts from Nov 8, 2025 to Jan 7 this year,” said Yahaya.
The funds came from personal loans as well as money from Amanah Saham Bumiputera and Tabung Haji.
The victim only received a single profit payment of RM1,000 at the initial stage of the investment.
He failed to receive any further returns as promised by the scheme.
Realising he had been cheated, the victim lodged a police report at the Kuantan district police headquarters.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
