Education ministry to support late soldier’s youngest sibling

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek pledges coordinated support for the family of the late Trooper K. Indiran, focusing on his youngest sister’s schooling needs.

GEORGE TOWN: The Ministry of Education will coordinate all necessary assistance for the youngest sibling of the late soldier Trooper K. Indiran.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said she had instructed the District Education Office to ensure the welfare and educational continuity of Year Six pupil K. Maitraashini.

She stated that the family need not worry as the ministry would look into all the child’s educational needs from time to time.

Fadhlina made these remarks after visiting the family’s residence in Taman Sri Nibong to offer condolences and present contributions.

She spent about 20 minutes meeting the late soldier’s mother, S. Usha, and his three siblings to provide moral support.

The Nibong Tebal MP was visibly moved while listening to Usha’s account of grieving the sudden loss of her eldest child.

Apart from Maitraashini, Indiran’s other siblings are K. Varshini, a student at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and K. Sarvien, a student at a MARA Junior Science College in Kulim.

Fadhlina said Indiran’s passing was a great loss not only to his family but also to the nation.

Usha expressed being deeply touched by the minister’s visit, which provided moral support as the family comes to terms with their loss.

She admitted the loss has been extremely difficult as Indiran had been her pillar of strength since her husband’s death in 2016.

Indiran was found unconscious while undergoing a course in Kuantan and was pronounced dead in hospital.
