Flood victims in Bachok rise to 148 as relief centres open

Flood victims in Bachok increase to 148 people from 51 families, with two relief centres operational and two more on standby in Kelantan

KOTA BHARU: The number of flood victims at two temporary relief centres in Bachok has increased to 148 people from 51 families.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s InfoBencana portal, the operational centres are located at SK Pauh Sembilan, Tawang, and SK Jelawat.

Two additional relief centres have been opened at SK Tapang in Kota Bharu and SK Pengkalan Kubor 2 in Tumpat as precautionary measures.

These newly opened centres have not yet received any flood victims despite being prepared for potential evacuees.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department previously issued a continuous rain warning at alert level for Kelantan and Terengganu.

This weather warning remains in effect until November 26, indicating potential for further flooding in the region. – Bernama
