Flood evacuees in Perak and Selangor drop to 995 and 40 respectively, while Pahang remains at 31. Two rivers in Perak are still at danger levels
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Perak and Selangor continues to improve with fewer evacuees, while the number in Pahang remains unchanged.
In Perak, the number of victims decreased to 995 people from 279 families this morning.
They were housed at nine relief centres across three districts.
The Perak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said Hilir Perak recorded the highest number with 442 victims.
Bagan Datuk followed with 335 people and Manjung with 218.
The Department of Irrigation and Drainage reported two rivers at danger levels.
Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong recorded a level of 3.86 metres against a normal level of around 2 metres.
Sungai Slim in Slim River was at 25.63 metres, above its normal level of 23.50 metres.
In Selangor, the number of victims dropped to 40 people from 13 families.
Only one relief centre remains operational in the Kuala Selangor district.
In Pahang, the number of victims held steady at 31 people from 12 families.
Twenty-four victims from 11 families were at the Balairaya Kampung Ulu Sungai relief centre in Raub.
Seven families were sheltered at the Kuantan Special Vocational Secondary School.
Water levels in all major rivers monitored in Pahang were below the danger level. – Bernama
