Floods ease in Perlis and Perak but worsen in Pahang and Selangor

Flood evacuee numbers drop in Perlis and Perak but rise in Pahang and Selangor, with new districts affected following heavy morning rain

KUALA LUMPUR: Flood conditions in Perlis continue to improve, with the number of evacuees at two relief centres falling to 186 people as of 4 pm today.

In Perak, the number of displaced individuals has decreased to 2,206 people from 671 families across 16 relief centres.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported Hilir Perak district still has the highest number of evacuees at 1,201 people.

It is followed by Bagan Datuk with 600 evacuees, Manjung with 392, and Larut, Matang, and Selama with 13.

In contrast, the flood situation in Pahang has worsened, with evacuee numbers rising to 62 individuals from 15 families.

The Social Welfare Department’s InfoBencana portal reported Raub has been hit by floods again, leading to 34 evacuees being relocated to two relief centres.

Meanwhile, the numbers in Maran and Kuantan districts stand at 21 and seven evacuees, all accommodated at one relief centre each.

Over in Selangor, the number of evacuees has increased again to 764 individuals from 246 families this afternoon.

This follows heavy rain early this morning, with the number of operational relief centres rising to nine.

Hulu Langat has now been added to the list of affected districts alongside Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam. – Bernama
