Four activists arrested for disrupting Kampung Sungai Baru ceremony

Police detain four individuals, including activist Rafidah Ibrahim, for allegedly disrupting Kampung Sungai Baru project groundbreaking event

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested four individuals for allegedly attempting to disrupt the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project groundbreaking ceremony.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the arrests of two men and two women aged between 39 and 47.

The suspects were detained at approximately 8.50 am in the vicinity of the event venue.

“At the time of arrest, the four were shouting and causing a disturbance, disrupting public order while security control duties were being carried out at the ceremony,” Fadil stated.

He explained the arrests were made as a preventive measure under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Police suspected the individuals were instigators who urged public attendance and protest at the event.

The gathering call was believed to have been uploaded via activist Rafidah Ibrahim’s TikTok account last Friday.

Fadil added that police will conduct further investigations into all detainees in accordance with the law. – Bernama
