Govt to hold special session with student leaders on education blueprint

The Higher Education Ministry will hold a special engagement session with student leaders nationwide to discuss the implementation of the new education blueprint.

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Higher Education will organise a special engagement session with student leaders nationwide early next month.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the session is an initial step in implementing the Malaysian Higher Education Blueprint 2026–2035.

The decision was reached during a meeting with the National Student Representative Council following the launch of the National Education Blueprint.

“One of our main challenges following the official launch yesterday is how we are going to implement the plan, particularly in terms of student involvement,” he told reporters.

Zambry welcomed the council’s initiative to engage early by presenting views on the blueprint’s implementation.

“I received them openly, and we discussed several next steps,” he said.

The first step agreed upon was to organise a special programme involving student leadership from all universities.

The programme will involve about 20 key student leaders from each public university.

Representatives from polytechnics, community colleges and selected private institutions will also participate.

“Through this session, we can interact in a relaxed and open manner while listening to their views,” Zambry added.

MPPK president Muhammad Haykal Halid described the meeting as a proactive move to ensure student voices are heard.

“MPPK views the RPTM 2026–2035 as a crucial document that will directly impact students,” he said.

He added that a clear understanding and active student involvement are essential for grassroots needs.

Commenting on a separate meeting with another student group, Muhammad Haykal said MPPK was not discouraged.

“We respect all views and remain open to engaging with any division within the ministry,” he stated.
