Saifuddin to receive Special Branch E2 report on alleged deviant movement linked to Korean church
PUTRAJAYA: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said he will be briefed this week by the Special Branch’s E2 unit on allegations involving a South Korea-linked religious movement said to be operating in Malaysia.
Saifuddin said E2, the police unit tasked with monitoring deviant teachings across all religions, is the authoritative body to assess the matter before any enforcement action or public disclosure is made.
“I will be briefed by Special Branch E2 this week. I want to be careful and rely on authoritative information.
“E2 is responsible for detecting any form of deviant teachings,” Saifuddin told reporters after the launch of Home Minister’s 2026 address, today.
He said any decision would be based strictly on verified intelligence, stressing that the government would not act on unconfirmed claims.
“Once I receive the briefing, I will share what can be shared.”
The remarks followed allegations by the Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin (popularly known as Dr Maza) who said several Muslim MPs and prominent parliamentary figures had links to the group, which he described as invoking the name of Jesus while promoting teachings he deemed deviant.
He further claimed that photographs showing MPs alongside members of the group at locations nationwide had circulated widely over the past several years.
Saifuddin had previously said police were aware of the claims and monitoring the situation, but noted that no formal police report had been lodged.
He said investigations and enforcement action could only proceed once concrete information and evidence were submitted to the relevant authorities.
