“One of the conditions we set was very clear – the teddy bear must be received by the IGP personally.”
KUALA LUMPUR: The Justice March led by M. Indira Gandhi reached the Bukit Aman police headquarters at about 12.00pm today, where a tense standoff unfolded after organisers insisted that only the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) personally accept a teddy bear symbolising her missing daughter, Prasana Diksa.
The teddy bear – kept by Indira for 16 years – was carried throughout the march from SOGO, where chants of “PDRM! Bring back Prasana!” and “Enough is enough!” echoed as several hundred supporters accompanied her to the police complex.
At Bukit Aman, senior officers formed a line in front of the crowd before Datuk Seri SAC Siti Kamsiah Hassan, head of D11 (Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division), came forward about 30 minutes later to receive the item on behalf of the IGP.

However, Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) chairman Arun Dorasamy declined, saying the symbolic handover had been clearly communicated in earlier correspondence to Bukit Aman.
“One of the conditions we set was very clear – the teddy bear must be received by the IGP personally.
“This is not a regular handover. This teddy bear has followed a mother through 16 years of pain. We will not move until the IGP comes down.”
Arun said Ingat had met police officers previously and was given several alternatives, including a private meeting with the IGP on another date.
“We rejected that. The letter stated we would remain at the location until the IGP accepts it himself,” he said.
Indira, speaking briefly, said she was exhausted and disappointed the meeting did not happen immediately.
“I will wait here until IGP came. I have waited 16 years. I can wait here until he meets me,” she said while holding the teddy bear close to her chest.
The crowd, held behind police lines but largely calm, echoed her plea: “Where is Prasana?”
As the standoff continued, officers at the scene informed organisers that the IGP was expected to arrive shortly to meet Indira and receive the teddy bear.
