Immigration DG says MyNIISe is the single platform under development, with current QR autogate apps like MyBorderPass as temporary transitional measures.
PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has clarified there is no system overlap following the rollout of several mobile applications for its QR code autogate facility.
Director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban (pic) said the facility is currently in a transitional phase alongside the development of the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe).
“The current rollout is a temporary transition to allow MyNIISe to be fully developed without affecting entry operations, border security, or service quality for users,” he said.
Zakaria stated that MyNIISe is being developed as a single platform to unify all immigration services into an integrated digital system.
It will gradually replace the department’s legacy systems.
He explained that MyBorderPass, launched in 2024, is a temporary proof-of-concept system designed to ease congestion at major entry points.
“This is a tactical measure to ensure smooth border operations while the full development and integration of MyNIISe is finalised,” he added.
Zakaria also addressed the role of MyDigital ID, clarifying it is a national digital identity platform and not an immigration-specific application.
It provides secure single sign-on access to various government services, which will include MyNIISe.
The department is committed to advancing AI and digital-driven reforms for more efficient and secure services.
These reforms aim to enhance user-friendliness for the public while bolstering national security.
