GEORGE TOWN: Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) is implementing a phased plan to replace and upgrade ageing sewerage pipes in George Town.
State Infrastructure, Transport, and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said this ensures decades-old sewerage assets continue functioning efficiently and safely.
The George Town Regional Sewage Treatment Plant processes sewage from George Town and surrounding areas.
IWK conducts asset condition assessments using risk management to identify pipes at risk of structural failure.
Maintenance and restoration work occurs in critical areas identified through CCTV inspections and performance reports.
