Selangor Islamic authorities submit investigation findings on four individuals, including a man claiming to be a prophet, to prosecutors for legal action.
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has submitted its investigation findings on four individuals involved in alleged deviant teachings to prosecutors. The group includes a 65-year-old man detained last month.
JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the department will continue to collaborate with prosecutors to ensure all such cases are handled according to the law. He emphasised that enforcement action requires a clear legal basis.
“Any enforcement action, including arrests, cannot be taken solely on the basis of pressure from certain parties without a clear legal basis,” he stated. He added that every action must follow due investigation and meet legal requirements.
Mohd Shahzihan was speaking after an Ihya Ramadan Fund handover ceremony here. Media reports cited the arrest of a man claiming to be a prophet in Rawang under the Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment.
All four individuals were initially released within 24 hours of their arrest. They were later detained again for a second alleged offence.
Earlier at the event, JAIS distributed RM228,200 from the Tabung Infak Jariah Umat Islam Selangor (Tijari) to various institutions. The funds are intended for educational bodies, mosques, surau, and associations across Selangor.
Mohd Shahzihan, who chairs Tijari, said special contributions were allocated for mosque and surau repairs. A total of RM188,116.50 was designated for repair work at five specific locations.
Selected institutions included Masjid Jamiul Muhammadiyah and Surau Darul Islam, each receiving RM50,000. Masjid Nurul Iman in Rawang also received RM50,000.
The event also saw the handover of RM29,000 in incentive funds to fully sponsored haj pilgrims. Each pilgrim for the 2026 season received RM1,000 as pocket money for expenses in the Holy Land.
