Johor Craft Festival 2025 targets RM9.8 million in sales

The Johor Craft Festival 2025 aims for RM9.8 million in sales, with RM3.6 million already achieved, featuring 251 entrepreneurs and cultural activities.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture aims to generate RM9.8 million in sales at the Johor Craft Festival 2025.

The 12-day festival, running until December 29 at Padang Akasia, Angsana Mall, has already recorded RM3.6 million in sales from its first four days.

MOTAC secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot expressed confidence in reaching the target, citing the appeal and quality of Malaysian craft products.

Sales are led by five key segments: textiles, forest-based products, metalwork, clay-based items and other crafts.

The event involves 251 craft entrepreneurs and is supported by five agencies, including the Pasir Gudang City Council and Tourism Malaysia.

It also facilitates business matching between craft entrepreneurs and domestic buyers like exporters, hotels and shopping centres.

Shaharuddin said the festival targets attracting 100,000 visitors over its duration.

Beyond sales, the festival offers master craft demonstrations, cultural shows and traditional games.

Visitors can see demonstrations of Johor peacock kite-making, traditional drum crafting and bamboo weaving.

Educational programmes and competitions, including batik fashion and traditional kompang performances, are also part of the lineup.

The festival also hosts the Jom Masuk IKN exhibition and heritage food sales.
