The Ministry of Youth and Sports has deployed 753 volunteers through 41 post-flood relief operations, distributing aid packages across six locations in three states.
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 753 youth volunteers have been mobilised to support relief efforts following the Northeast Monsoon.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) said the volunteers were deployed through 41 operations under the Rakan Muda initiative in collaboration with the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM).
The ministry said the initiative reflects its commitment to coordinating structured and impactful humanitarian aid for affected communities.
Relief efforts have included cleaning temporary evacuation centres, victims’ homes, and public areas.
Food, hygiene kits, and essentials were distributed, alongside psychosocial support through counselling and interactive activities.
A total of 852 aid packages will be distributed to flood victims in three states, covering six locations.
The locations are Segamat in Johor, Miri in Sarawak, and Kota Kinabalu, Tenom, Beaufort, and Kota Belud in Sabah.
Each aid package contains men’s and women’s innerwear, hygiene kits, and other daily essentials.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari flagged off the 2026 KBS Flood Relief Mission at Menara KBS in Putrajaya.
The event was also attended by MBM president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid and senior KBS officials.
