Kelantan police advise residents to postpone non-essential travel to southern Thailand following bomb attacks on petrol stations in the restive region.
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan police have advised residents to postpone non-essential travel to southern Thailand following a series of bomb attacks.
The explosions targeted multiple petrol stations in the Thai provinces of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani early on Sunday.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the public should not take unnecessary risks.
He urged heightened caution for anyone who must travel to the region for specific purposes.
“We will continue to closely monitor developments through close cooperation with the Thai security authorities,” he told reporters.
Mohd Yusoff said he had yet to receive detailed information on the incidents.
He also advised Malaysians in border areas to remain vigilant and avoid high-risk zones.
Thailand’s Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 stated that masked armed groups carried out the attacks.
The violence prompted Thai authorities to impose an immediate curfew in Narathiwat province.
Preliminary reports indicate five PTT stations were hit in Narathiwat, four in Yala and two in Pattani.
The incidents occurred around 1.10am.
