KPWKM strengthens psychosocial support as community listening companion

Women Ministry enhances psychosocial services to help individuals manage life pressures, with family wellbeing scores improving from 7.33 to 7.93

KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry continues to strengthen its role as a listening companion by providing psychosocial services to help individuals manage life pressures.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the programme builds an emotional support ecosystem to ease community burdens through collaboration with various agencies including the National Population and Family Development Board.

“Through psychosocial education and support programmes, we hope to assist those facing various challenges,” she said during a Bernama TV podcast recording at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

“Not all problems can be fully resolved, but at the very least we can comfort them, be a listening companion.”

Noraini explained the programme falls under the K.A.S.I.H initiative, implementing Malaysia MADANI aspirations that emphasise knowledge, morals and noble values.

She stressed that families play an important role in shaping a harmonious and prosperous society through instilling love values.

The deputy minister noted such values should serve as foundation for family development and guide daily life to foster community unity.

Noraini revealed the family wellbeing score under the Malaysian Family Well-Being Index Study improved from 7.33 in 2016 to 7.93 in 2022.

“This shows the ministry’s programmes and interventions have succeeded in creating positive family relationships,” she said.

The ministry remains committed to implementing various initiatives while gathering community and NGO feedback to ensure programme effectiveness. – Bernama
