Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution says enforcement against illegal e-waste imports will be intensified at all ports following PM’s directive.
PUTRAJAYA: Enforcement actions against illegal electronic waste entering Malaysia will be intensified at all ports.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the move follows recent instructions from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“MCBA (Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency) is asked to carry out the operations continuously and now is the time to act, not plan,” he said.
Saifuddin Nasution stressed this directive was emphasised by the Prime Minister to the agency.
He added that the operations and enforcement would also involve other enforcement bodies.
The minister was speaking at a media conference after a gathering with MCBA personnel.
Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman and MCBA director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain were also present.
