Malaysians in Narathiwat urged to follow Thai curfew after attacks

Malaysians in Thailand’s Narathiwat province are advised to abide by a 9pm-5am curfew following coordinated bomb and arson attacks on petrol stations

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians in Thailand’s Narathiwat province are urged to comply with a curfew imposed by Thai authorities.

The order follows a series of violent incidents in three southern provinces on Sunday.

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla advised residents and visitors to stay indoors from 9pm until 5am.

“Those intending to visit the concerned provinces [should] defer it until the situation permits,” the consulate said in a statement.

It also called on Malaysians currently in the area to register their presence with the consulate.

They can contact +6674 311 062, +6674 316 274, or the emergency line +6693 657 0707.

Registration is also possible via email at mwsongkhla@kln.gov.my.

Thai authorities implemented the security measure after coordinated attacks targeted 11 petrol stations.

The simultaneous bomb and arson attacks occurred in Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani in the early hours of Sunday.

Four people were injured in the incidents.
