Negeri Sembilan’s RM20 billion Nexus Yang green data centre campus aims to create a major tech hub, generating high-skilled jobs and supporting AI growth.
SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan has the potential to become a major data and technology hub with the development of the Nexus Yang Green Data Centre Campus.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the project at the NS Semiconductor Valley Industrial Park is a strategic investment aligned with the state’s high-tech direction.
The project by Vena Nexus, part of the Vena Group, involves a long-term capital investment estimated at RM20 billion.
It is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year and will create nearly 200 highly skilled job opportunities.
“The provision of this green data centre campus coincides with the development of the country’s digital technology,” Aminuddin said after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony.
He said the world is rapidly moving towards a data-based economy and artificial intelligence.
Covering 157 acres, Nexus Yang is a hyperscale and AI-ready data centre campus with an initial target IT load of around 350 megawatts.
The project is designed to support applications from cloud computing to high-density AI technology needs.
It will provide capacity to global cloud providers and enterprises across the Asia Pacific region.
Aminuddin said the centre would build local capabilities in data analytics, industrial automation and AI.
He said the economic spillover would stimulate growth in logistics, construction, renewable energy and technical training.
“Through an integrated development approach, Negeri Sembilan is building an economic ecosystem that is not only high-tech based but also inclusive,” he added.
The development is seen as a catalyst for a regional data centre ecosystem.
It aims to strengthen Negeri Sembilan’s position on the Southeast Asian digital industry map.
Aminuddin welcomed Vena Nexus’s commitment to integrate renewable energy and energy storage systems.
This voluntary grid-responsive approach supports the stability of the country’s energy system.
“I am confident that the involvement of the Nexus Yang Green Data Centre Campus will be a catalyst for the overall development of the NSSV,” he said.
Vena Nexus global head Simone Grasso said Negeri Sembilan has an opportunity to lead in digital growth compatible with the energy transition.
“Combined with the strategic proximity to key locations… it provides the right conditions for long-term, high value digital investments,” Grasso said.
