No Malaysians affected by Sumatra floods and landslides, says consulate

Malaysian Consulate General in Medan confirms no citizens affected by Sumatra floods and landslides, advises vigilance for travelers in affected provinces.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Consulate General in Medan has confirmed no reports of Malaysians being affected by recent floods and landslides in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh provinces.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the consulate stated it continues to closely monitor the situation in the three provinces hit by persistent heavy rain.

Malaysian citizens currently in or planning to travel to these areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow local authority instructions.

Travelers should regularly check with airlines or transport providers for any schedule changes due to the severe weather conditions.

Indonesian authorities have activated disaster preparedness measures and relief operations in severely affected areas.

The National Disaster Management Agency and Regional Disaster Management Agencies are focusing on vulnerable low-lying areas and hillsides.

The consulate emphasized the importance of staying updated through official media channels for the latest developments.

Unpredictable weather conditions continue to pose risks across the three Sumatran provinces.

Relief operations are underway in regions most susceptible to flooding and landslide hazards.
