PAAB upgrades water infrastructure at two Batu Pahat schools

PAAB invests RM100,000 to upgrade water pipes, install rainwater harvesting and boost pressure at two schools in Kampung Haji Bajuri

BATU PAHAT: Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) is upgrading water supply infrastructure at two schools in Kampung Haji Bajuri to increase water pressure and reduce wastage.

CEO Ir. Zulkiflee Omar said Sekolah Kebangsaan Gambut and Sekolah Agama Gambut will each receive RM50,000 under the Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung (Santuni MADANI) initiative.

Work began mid-year to replace decades-old water pipes and upgrade taps to water-efficient models.

These improvements are expected to reduce utility consumption and lower monthly water bills at both schools.

New water tanks have been installed alongside a rainwater harvesting system (SPAH) to provide alternative water for cleaning and gardening.

PAAB is promoting green practices by building a greenhouse for organic plants and providing recycling bins.

Zulkiflee spoke after the PAAB Awareness Campaign event held with the SK Gambut Entrepreneurship Carnival.

He said PAAB aims to position both schools as benchmark green schools in Batu Pahat while enhancing community well-being.

The resource centre at SA Gambut has been upgraded with new doors, floor repairs and improved facilities.

PAAB also donated six smart televisions for learning sessions at SK Gambut.

The programme involved SWCorp, MGTC, Ranhill SAJ, the National Anti-Drugs Agency and SWM Environment.

Other participants included TEKUN Nasional, the Johor Islamic Religious Council, police, fire department, civil defence and Putra Specialist Hospital.

PAAB is now upgrading water treatment plant infrastructure and installing main pipelines in Batu Pahat.

This follows Ranhill SAJ’s signing of the Johor Water Supply Restructuring Plan in 2009. – Bernama
