Pahang’s Tunas Makmur initiative provides RM14.8 million in learning equipment and vouchers for 68,000 students, with distribution starting on the first day of school
KUANTAN: The Pahang state government has allocated RM14.8 million for its Tunas Makmur student aid initiative this year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the programme is expected to benefit approximately 68,000 students across the state.
The initiative covers all Year One pupils and hardcore poor students from Year Two up to Form Five.
It provides a complete set of branded learning equipment worth RM100 for each beneficiary.
Secondary school students also receive scientific calculators and geometry sets as part of the package.
A new enhancement for this year is the introduction of RM100 school clothing vouchers.
These vouchers can be redeemed at selected supermarkets across Pahang.
Wan Rosdy added that the state is collaborating with MBS Bookstore to offer additional support.
“The state government, in collaboration with MBS Bookstore, is also providing 30 per cent discount cards to all students – including kindergarten pupils and those in higher education institutions (IPT) – as well as teachers and lecturers across the state,” he said in a statement.
Distribution of the aid will occur simultaneously on the first day of school at all institutions throughout the state.
“The assistance will be distributed simultaneously on the first day of school at all schools throughout Pahang,” Wan Rosdy confirmed.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritising child welfare and education.
The Tunas Makmur initiative was first introduced in the state back in 2022.
Wan Rosdy also personally presented learning equipment to 130 students at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Bentong.
