Education Ministry encourages parents to be present at schools during BAP distribution to ensure transparency and proper use of RM150 aid
PUTRAJAYA: Parents are encouraged to be present at schools during the distribution of the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) this week.
Education Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Endut said parental involvement is crucial for transparency and to verify their children receive the correct amount.
“We want to involve all parents so that they are aware of what is happening in schools,” he said.
He added that this ensures the assistance is used for its intended purpose and not spent elsewhere.
Ahmad Suhaimi spoke to the media after inspecting the first day of the 2026 school session at SMK Putrajaya Presint 18(1).
He cited past incidents where students told parents they received less than the full RM150 allocation.
“Each student is supposed to receive RM150, but some told their parents they only received RM100,” he said.
The BAP is a lump-sum payment distributed to 5.2 million students nationwide to ease parents’ financial burden for school expenses.
On the new school session, Ahmad Suhaimi said students attended enthusiastically with strong parental support.
He emphasised the crucial role teachers play in keeping students motivated to learn.
Meanwhile, Putrajaya Federal Territory Education director Nadimin Abdul Aziz outlined two programmes for this Thursday.
The first is the official handover of the SK Putrajaya Presint 8(3) building by JKR to the ministry.
The second is the distribution of BAP in Putrajaya by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
