KUALA LUMPUR: Unlicensed domestic helper agencies and the government’s progress in eradicating hardcore poverty headline today’s Dewan Rakyat agenda.
According to the official Parliament Order Paper, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah will question the Human Resources Minister about cases involving unlicensed maid recruitment agencies over the past three years.
He seeks details on enforcement measures taken to combat fraud and protect victims of these “maid scammers”.
Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan will ask the Economy Minister about ongoing efforts to eliminate hardcore poverty, which reportedly still falls short of targets.
He also wants to understand the obstacles hindering poverty eradication progress.
Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli will request data from the Communications Minister about courier company numbers and their market shares.
He will inquire whether the ministry plans to establish mandatory floor pricing for courier services.
Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli will question the Finance Minister about introducing comprehensive taxation mechanisms for wealthy individuals and luxury goods owners.
This follows the cancellation of the High-Value Goods Tax.
The parliamentary session will then continue with committee-level debates on the 2026 Supply Bill for several ministries.
The current parliamentary meeting is scheduled to run for 35 days until December 4. – Bernama
