Perak dengue cases drop over 70% in 2025, two deaths reported

Perak records a 73% decrease in dengue cases in 2025 with 5,073 cases and two fatalities, down from 6,924 cases and 17 deaths in 2024

IPOH: Dengue cases in Perak decreased to 5,073 throughout last year compared to 6,924 cases recorded in the same period for 2024, a drop of 73.27%.

State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk A. Sivanesan said two deaths were reported in the same period compared to 17 in 2024.

He said this at a press conference at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building here today.

Sivanesan said the decrease in dengue cases was the result of close cooperation between the Perak State Health Department, local authorities, non-governmental organisations and others.

He also informed that Banting Hospital director Dr Fakhruddin Amran has been appointed as the new director of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) effective Dec 15 last year.

Sivanesan said the Perak-born doctor had served for six years as Banting Hospital director with extensive experience in hospital management and health administration.

He has also implemented various patient service improvement initiatives.

“We hope that with his extensive previous experience, he can continue the agenda of improving health services at HRPB and strengthen hospital governance for the benefit of patients and staff,” he said.
