Perlis flood recovery complete as Pahang sees new evacuees

Perlis closes its last flood relief centre, while Pahang records a new rise in evacuees. Perak and Selangor continue to see improving conditions

KUALA LUMPUR: Flood conditions in Perlis have fully recovered, while the situation in Perak and Selangor continues to improve.

However, Pahang recorded a slight increase in the number of evacuees this afternoon.

In Perlis, the final relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Felcra Lubuk Sireh was closed at 10 am.

It had housed 15 evacuees as of 8 am before all victims were allowed to return home.

State Civil Defence Force director Lt Col Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said the agency remains on full alert for any eventuality.

“The public must also remain vigilant, stay updated on the latest information and be prepared at all times,” he said.

In Pahang, evacuee numbers rose to 31 people from 12 families this afternoon.

This compares to just seven individuals accommodated this morning after parts of Raub district were inundated again.

A relief centre at the Kampung Ulu Sungai community hall in Raub was activated for 24 evacuees from 11 families.

Seven individuals from one family remain at a relief centre at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Kuantan.

In Perak, the number of flood evacuees continued to decline to 1,280 people from 376 families.

They are housed at 11 relief centres across three districts, down from 1,455 people this morning.

Hilir Perak continues to record the highest number of evacuees at 660 people.

It is followed by Bagan Datuk with 376 evacuees and Manjung with 244.

The water level of Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong has reached the danger level at 3.77 metres.

Sungai Slim in Slim River also recorded a danger-level reading of 26.79 metres.

In Selangor, the number of flood evacuees has dropped sharply to 122 individuals from 49 families.
