Education Minister urges immediate action after SK Padang Melangit fire destroys eight classrooms and injures cleaning worker with 30% burns.
KUALA LUMPUR: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has urged the Perlis Education Department to take immediate action following a fire at SK Padang Melangit.
The minister called for swift building repair work to commence at the Perlis school that caught fire yesterday morning.
Fadhlina confirmed the incident affected the school’s building and that an injured victim is receiving hospital treatment.
“May he be granted a speedy recovery and his matters facilitated,” she said in a Facebook post today.
An eight-room building at the school was reportedly 90% destroyed in the morning blaze.
A private cleaning worker suffered 30% burns in the incident.
Perlis Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohamad Azhar Yussof said they received the emergency call at 11.05 am. – Bernama
