Police urge anyone with information on the location of Indira Gandhi’s youngest daughter and ex-husband to come forward following a High Court order
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate the youngest daughter of kindergarten teacher M. Indira Gandhi.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said all information received will be professionally reviewed and acted upon according to investigative procedures.
The appeal follows a meeting between police, Indira Gandhi, and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department M. Kulasegaran at Bukit Aman yesterday.
“During the meeting, M. Kulasegaran requested the police to provide continued support to Indira Gandhi in efforts to locate her ex-husband, K. Pathmanathan or Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, and her daughter,” Mohd Khalid said in a statement.
He added that Indira Gandhi and activist Arun Dorasamy, who also attended, hoped search efforts could be intensified.
The police force remains committed to respecting and complying with all court directives.
This includes conducting continuous efforts to locate Indira Gandhi’s daughter in accordance with the law.
Police will cooperate fully to ensure every action is taken with integrity and professionalism.
On November 21, the Ipoh High Court ordered police to widen the search for Indira Gandhi’s ex-husband.
He has been accused of failing to return their youngest daughter to her mother.
In 2009, Muhammad Riduan converted the couple’s three children to Islam without Indira Gandhi’s consent.
He subsequently sought custody through the Syariah Court.
The Federal Court ruled on January 29, 2018, that the conversions were null and void.
The court also ordered the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Muhammad Riduan for defying a High Court directive to return the child. – Bernama
