Rapid On-Demand’s RM1 promo ends, replaced by a permanent RM2 fixed fare from February 1, with plans to add 300 electric vans by 2028.
PETALING JAYA: Rapid On-Demand (ROD) will implement a permanent fixed fare of RM2 starting February 1. This marks the end of its RM1 promotional fare period.
Head of Planning and Strategy at Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, Sharul Azwa Abd Rani, confirmed the revised fare will apply to holders of My50, Rapid Kota, Rapid Kembara and Rapid Keluarga passes.
“The current fare will end together with the Proof of Concept (POC) period,” she said during a media briefing. She added that the new fixed fare will take effect from the start of next month.
Prasarana also plans to introduce 300 electric vans into the ROD service between late 2027 and the end of 2028. This expansion aims to strengthen operations and increase coverage.
Of the new vehicles, 130 electric vans will be deployed in the Klang Valley and 170 in Penang. This rollout aligns with plans to add more operational zones in both regions.
“In the Klang Valley, 22 new zones will be added, while 23 new zones will be introduced in Penang,” Sharul Azwa stated. ROD currently covers 82 zones, with 71 in the Klang Valley and 11 in Penang.
She added that Prasarana is focusing on improving ROD services for persons with disabilities. This consideration involves both current operational features and future service planning.
