Sabah leaders join funeral prayers for late MP Bung Moktar

Tun Musa Aman and DPM Ahmad Zahid lead thousands in funeral prayers for Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin at Kota Kinabalu City Mosque.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi joined thousands in performing funeral prayers for the late Kinabatangan MP, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The prayers were held after Friday prayers at the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque and led by the State Mosque’s Grand Imam, Suhaidi Kuanting.

Also present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin and Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif also attended.

State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong and Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Razali Wahab were among the mourners.

Several other Sabah Cabinet ministers and Barisan Nasional leaders joined the late leader’s family and friends.

After the prayers, Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN chairman, joined other senior BN leaders in paying their last respects.

Bung Moktar’s remains were later laid to rest at the Kampung Likas Muslim Cemetery.

Earlier, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor paid his respects at the late leader’s residence in Luyang.

Bung Moktar, 66, died at a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu at 1.46 am, as confirmed by his son Naim Kurniawan Moktar.

He had just retained the Lamag state seat in the 17th Sabah state election on Nov 29. – Bernama
