Sarawak police send 1,031 personnel to Sabah to ensure security and smooth operations for the state election involving 73 seats and 596 candidates
KUCHING: A total of 1,031 Sarawak police personnel will be deployed to Sabah to assist with security for the 17th Sabah State Election.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said approximately 200 personnel are already in Sabah, with the remainder travelling via commercial flights on Friday.
He emphasised this deployment is crucial to ensure the election process runs smoothly, orderly and safely.
“We are committed to ensuring all preparations are in order and the team is also ready to help in terms of security control and public movement,” he stated.
Mohamad Zainal made these remarks after the Sarawak Police Commissioner monthly gathering in Kuching.
The Sabah state election involves multiple agencies working to ensure efficient logistics, security and polling centre management.
A total of 596 candidates are contesting for the 73 State Legislative Assembly seats in this election. – Bernama
