Selangor government demands full report from Selangor FC after fan unrest and poor ACL2 performance, seeking improved security and team strategy
KLANG: The Selangor government has instructed Selangor FC management to submit a comprehensive report regarding fan disturbances during their Asian Champions League 2 match against Persib Bandung.
State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi confirmed the request, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities view the incident.
“We have requested Selangor FC to provide a report regarding the incident,” he told reporters after launching the 2026 Selangor Economic Census engagement session.
The November 6 match at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium saw Selangor FC eliminated from ACL2 following a 3-2 defeat to the Indonesian side.
Disappointed supporters reacted by causing commotion after the final whistle, with some invading the pitch while others gathered outside the stadium demanding answers from club management.
Mohd Najwan revealed the state government has also demanded a separate report analyzing the team’s poor performance and strategic direction.
“We understand the concerns of the supporters and have asked the team management to submit a detailed report on the team’s performance and measures to improve their fortunes,” he stated.
No specific deadline has been set for the report submissions, according to the committee chairman.
Although Selangor FC operates as a corporate entity, the state government maintains oversight through financial support and regular performance updates.
Mohd Najwan clarified that the reporting requirement aims to facilitate planned improvements rather than assign blame.
“The state government just wants to ensure that any improvements carried out are done in a planned manner for the benefit of the team and the fans,” he added. – Bernama
