Selangor’s PKPS launches SEED2030 strategic plan, targeting major increases in oil palm, poultry and dairy production to strengthen state food security.
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has launched a five-year strategic blueprint to bolster the state’s food security agenda.
The 2026-2030 Agribusiness Transformation Plan (SEED2030) aims to increase production and enhance the agricultural ecosystem. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the plan focuses on oil palm, poultry, dairy, the Selangor Fruit Valley and Ehsan brand products.
“The transformation plan will be implemented through supply chain control, sustainable development, and community empowerment to achieve the set targets,” he told a press conference after the launch at Wisma PKPS.
SEED2030 targets a 64.95% increase in oil palm production to 735,000 tonnes. The poultry sector aims for production of 20.1 million chickens, a significant rise from 6.31 million previously.
Amirudin highlighted the Ehsan Dairy Farm project, set to launch in March in Bukit Tagar with a daily target of 32,850 litres. He also expects PKPS annual income to reach between RM400 million and RM500 million, up from around RM200 million currently.
“We cannot act reactively, we need to move forward as an entity with a well-planned strategy,” he said.
For its Ehsan products, PKPS aims to expand into Middle Eastern and European markets by 2030 with 98 products. Currently, only two products—cottonseed and sunflower oils—have entered the Australian market.
PKPS Group CEO Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said SEED2030 rests on five strategic pillars. These are strengthening the organisation, increasing productivity, agricultural innovation and digitalisation, developing the agropreneur ecosystem, and expanding Ehsan products globally.
He said the plan will be executed through collaboration among PKPS’s four main subsidiaries. This ensures comprehensive control from production and processing to distribution and logistics.
The use of automation, data analytics, and AI-based systems is expected to improve productivity and reduce waste. Mohamad Khairil said this will enhance food security throughout the value chain.
SEED2030 aligns with the National Agrofood Policy and the Selangor Agro Transformation Plan (PeTA). “What is outlined at the national level, PKPS will be responsible for implementing at the state level,” he added.
Mohamad Khairil said Selangor aims to be a model for regional-based food security implementation. The state seeks to play its role not only as an economic contributor but also in this vital sector.
