Seputeh landslide triggers evacuation as ground movement continues

Ongoing ground movement detected at Seputeh landslide site prompts urgent evacuation of residents to temporary relief centre as authorities brace for worsening weather.

SEPUTEH: Residents in Taman United have been urged to relocate to a temporary relief centre following confirmation of ongoing ground movement by the Fire and Rescue Department.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said the PPS will be activated at the Sri Petaling Community Hall.

He expressed concern that weather conditions may worsen overnight, potentially triggering further movement.

The Kuala Lumpur mayor has instructed a contractor to immediately cover the affected slope with canvas as a precautionary measure.

Police have closed two roads and placed warning signs with assistance from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Authorities are attempting to identify the owners of two cars and several motorcycles affected by the incident.

One vehicle was completely buried after soil movement occurred along the 60-metre slope due to continuous rainfall.

No casualties have been reported from the landslide that occurred amid heavy rain.

More than 100 residents of a low-cost apartment block in Taman United were ordered to evacuate earlier.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 11.02 am reporting the slope collapse.

Firefighters from the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station were immediately deployed to the scene along Jalan Sepadu 6.
