Education Ministry to build 10 additional classrooms at SMK Bandar Seri Putra using the IBS method as a short-term solution to overcrowding.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education is constructing 10 additional classrooms for SMK Bandar Seri Putra in Selangor to address severe overcrowding.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek (pic) said this short- and medium-term solution uses the Industrialised Building System for faster completion.
“At this time, the MOE is also planning to build an additional two-storey building using the IBS method at SMK Bandar Seri Putra,” she stated.
She confirmed the overcrowding has impacted student comfort and teaching effectiveness.
Fadhlina added she had reviewed the school’s condition and held discussions with management and relevant departments.
The minister also urged education administrators to improve discipline and avoid a reactive culture to public complaints.
“We must be fast and agile, clear and responsive to public complaints,” she emphasised.
She stressed the need for efficiency in managing public expectations, moving away from a ‘business as usual’ approach.
The issue gained attention after social media users raised concerns over crowded classrooms.
They expressed hope for a resolution to ensure a more conducive learning environment.
